Income

Income can refer to cash flow derived from a variety of sources, including personal earnings, investment earnings, businesses or even real estate. These forms of income are generally referred to as earned income. There are also sources of unearned income, particularly when discussing investments. Dividends, capital gains and interest are common examples of unearned income.

Prudential Earnings Exceed Estimates -- Annuity Business is Strong

Prudential Financial announced quarterly earnings that exceeded analyst estimates. Second quarter net income for the company was $163 million. Prudential's individual annuity business posted strong results. Individual annuity gross sales increased 21 percent to $3.4 billion for the quarter. MetLife Reports Strong Operating Earnings and Variable Annuity Gains

Life and annuity insurer MetLife reported strong operating results for the second quarter. Earnings from operations exceeded analyst forecasts and came in at $723 million for the quarter.
