Fixed Immediate Annuity

A fixed immediate annuity is an annuity where the payouts to the annuitant are fixed, and those payouts begin shortly (within months) after the annuity is purchased. The annuitant receives a guaranteed or “fixed” income flow and is shielded from the risk that market fluctuations could adversely impact payments. The insurance company assumes responsibility for investing the funds and the market risk that comes with that responsibility.
